"Autoplastic: Wendell Castle, 1968-1973 traces the designer's abbreviated foray into fantastical hot-colored furniture. To accomplish this task, the R 20th Century gallery, New York, draws upon photographs, archival documents, ephemera, and sculptural objects such as a multitasking table-bench-lamp, circa 1969. Cast in fiberglass-reinforced plastic, the gel-coated piece features an illuminated acrylic base."
